Honestly, if we hadn't already sunk so much effort into linking Mistral AI's funding to the AI Act, would we even bother making the connection? Investors are pouring money into Mistral because they see potential in the tech and a huge market, not as a direct endorsement of the regulatory framework itself. It's like saying a baby sleeping through the night proves my nightly routine is perfect for all babies; it just means that one baby slept. What if Mistral's investors would still re-enter the deal today, even if the AI Act looked completely different, just because of their core product? We should look at what actually drives investment decisions, like their product roadmap or talent, not just the regulatory environment.
