Mistral AI's 21 billion euro valuation doesn't automatically dictate the regulatory viability of the EU AI Act; that's just not how compliance works. A company's financial success often relates more to its market strategy and investor confidence than to the universal legal soundness of a regulatory framework. The mandate for the AI Act's viability rests on its broad applicability and legal compatibility for all companies, not just one highly funded player like Mistral AI.
For example, if the AI Act creates prohibited data processing methods that smaller startups cannot easily avoid, a large valuation for one firm won't change that core compliance hurdle for others.
