Forget the binary between budget and time constraints; it's not the core of the issue for a trip in the low season.
The real challenge is to maximize the impact of the experience relative to the duration, regardless of costs.
Here, in Japan, we often seek quality and depth: a five-day stay in Kyoto, perfectly orchestrated with exclusive morning visits, can be much more memorable than a two-week aimless trip, even cheaper.
Duration is just a lever among others to optimize the adventure, not an end in itself.
