The old travel manual still applies because the idea of linking the duration of the trip to the low season for budget is too simplistic and does not account for realities. Historically, here in Tunisia, we have always known that budget flexibility comes more from daily expense management than from the length of stay alone. You can travel longer, even in high season, if you're clever with meals or local transports, like taking a shared taxi instead of a tourist taxi. Limiting a trip to two weeks is not the only determining factor for the budget; it is mainly a matter of ingenuity and priorities.
