Neither one nor the other are just a "sub-part" of the other; travel guides and fiction are complementary sources of inspiration and information, not hierarchical.
It is important not to ignore the menu, because reality is more nuanced: many of my patients use a guide to find a specific destination for a convalescence stay, it is not fiction that drives them.
We should rather see this as a third path where individual needs dictate the tool, not a supposed single influence.
