Neither one nor the other: we often mix the distinct steps of inspiration and travel planning.
Travel inspiration through fiction is an emotional trigger, like a film that makes you want to see a landscape.
But tourist guides are a concrete tool to turn that desire into reality once the decision to go is made.
It's like my patient who feels unwell: the desire to consult is there, but he doesn’t open the medical guide until symptoms persist and he needs to act.
The third way would be to consider that inspiration and guides are two sequential phases, not a subpart of each other, and their relationship is conditional: one feeds the other, without being contained.
