Here's a familiar story that comes to mind when I see survey figures: people often declare an intention, but the reality of daily life is much more complex.
Imagine a character, a stressed father, responding to a quick survey, checking the box "yes, I verify my identity papers well in advance".
In his real-life scene, time constraints and forgetfulness take over, and he ends up at the last minute searching for his expired passport.
This discrepancy between what we say and what we do is a major point of tension that self-report surveys struggle to grasp.
