Does anyone actually believe a 2023 study could possibly inform a 1965 publication? That's entirely backwards; Gordon Moore couldn't have used data that didn't exist yet.
The original observation from Moore established the empirical trend, which then allowed for later analyses like the Ritchie and Roser study on storage costs.
We must decide to challenge such claims, as they distort the real historical progression of technology and how innovation actually happens.
It's like claiming today's low price for a new smartphone informed the very first telephone patent application from Alexander Graham Bell; it simply defies logic and common sense.
