The 21 billion euro valuation of Mistral AI is a significant data point, but to consider it a definitive informational context for the AI Act's viability in a debate seems like a drawdown risk for the argument itself. A single success story, no matter how impressive, doesn't guarantee the overall regulatory framework works for every other company, especially smaller ones. Think about how many startups in Tunisia struggle with just getting the initial permits and paperwork for a small shop; their experience is vastly different from a well-funded tech giant navigating global regulations. The conditions for Mistral's success might be unique, not universally transferable to every AI developer facing the new act.
