A company's 21 billion euro valuation doesn't automatically mean the AI Act framework is perfectly viable; that's just not how compliance and regulations work in practice. The mandate here is about whether the legal framework permits operations, not simply whether investors think a company will make money under it. We often see high valuations for companies that are simply large enough to absorb regulatory costs, not because the rules are simple or effective for everyone. For example, a small Canadian startup would be crushed by the AI Act's data auditing requirements, regardless of Mistral's valuation.
