Mistral AI's fundraising being presented as the decisive factor for the AI Act's viability in a debate really misses the point of governance. Was there proper sign-off on what constitutes 'informational context' for such a critical discussion, or was this just an ad-hoc assertion? One company's valuation, however large, cannot define the entire regulatory landscape; it doesn't reflect the ownership and process burden on every other firm. For instance, a small startup in Andalusia has very different compliance challenges under the AI Act than a €21 billion company, with far less capacity for dedicated legal teams.
