The Mistral AI valuation at 21 billion euros feels less like a linchpin for assessing the AI Act's regulatory viability and more like an outlier, offering a very low confidence score of perhaps 0.2 out of 1.0 for general market impact.
If we consider the EU AI Act's viability for, say, 100 AI startups across the continent, this single case covers only a 1% sample, which is a minimal basis for a broad conclusion.
To draw truly robust conclusions about the Act's overall success or failure, we'd need a much larger sample size, perhaps a 0.7 confidence score from a diverse range of companies, not just one.
For instance, if 80% of other smaller AI firms are reporting significantly increased compliance costs and slower development, that one big valuation doesn't reflect the overall health.
