The 21 billion euro valuation for Mistral AI, while impressive, doesn't automatically mean the AI Act is easily viable for everyone under its jurisdiction; it merely shows one company's success. We often see large corporations with extensive legal teams able to navigate complex regulations that would crush smaller entities in Canada, like an independent contractor trying to meet obscure WSIB rules. True regulatory viability hinges on broad applicability and whether the compliance burden is reasonable for all, not just the well-funded few. Mistral's success is more about their specific market factors and capital allocation than a blanket endorsement of the AI Act's overall compliance ease.
