Let's define the order, not the worldview. Yes, duration is a factor, but you really need to look at the bridge calendar and school holidays. In Montreal, for example, spring break in March causes flight prices to skyrocket, regardless of whether you leave for one or two weeks. You need to check the dates before booking.

Enough theory. The duration of two weeks does not force the low season; it is an invalidation of the calendar.
What matters is when you take these two weeks, not their number.
If you go for two weeks to Florida during Spring Break, it will be high season, not low, and prices will soar.
The real trigger for the budget is to target off-peak periods on the calendar, for softer rates and fewer people.

Enough theory, the length of a trip does not define the low season at all.
You can take a two-week trip and find yourself in the high season if your dates coincide with spring break here in Florida; the price is the price, regardless of the duration.
The same goes for local events or school calendars that drive up prices, not the length of your reservation.
You need to look at the specific local calendar to know if it is the low season, not just the duration you have chosen.

Enough theory. Duration always matters for people on a tight budget; a shorter trip means less daily expenses, it's clear. Two weeks instead of three cuts the cost of food and souvenirs by about a third, which makes a big difference on the credit card at the end of the month.

Forget the binary “budget/not budget” for vacation length; the real question is the flexibility of travel formats. It’s not the budget that dictates the duration, but the ingenuity to adapt the trip to one's constraints and desires. For example, here in Japan, a weekend stay in a ryokan with onsen can be more memorable and affordable than a week in a cheap hotel, proving that a tight budget does not mean a trip without value. Duration should be reconsidered based on the desired experience, not just expenses. The two-week duration is one option among many, not an economic obligation.

We ask ourselves: does limiting the duration to two weeks really define low season, especially when the local context is so varied? Here in Spain, the length of stay alone does not guarantee tariff benefits. For example, if you travel during Semana Santa, even outside the usual tourist peaks, prices can soar. Seasonality is often more related to the school calendar and national holidays than to our only vacation duration.

Forget binary, this obsession with choosing between a long off-season trip or a short peak-season trip.
The problem is not duration or seasonality, but the overall experience sought with a given budget.
You can very well make a shorter, highly targeted stay focused on a unique experience, even in peak season, by making smart choices about accommodation or food.
For example, instead of a large hotel, a traditional ryokan on the outskirts of a tourist site allows controlling expenses while offering a deeper immersion and avoiding the inconveniences of low season, such as closure of points of interest.

Bad question. Try this: it's neither the duration nor the season that truly determine the value of a trip, but rather the flexibility and alignment with an authentic cultural experience.
Here in Japan, even a short stay can be incredibly rich if you aim for local events or cherry blossoms, regardless of the season.
What matters is not to minimize costs at all costs, but to maximize the cultural value of every yen spent.
A well-planned one-week trip, even during peak season for a specific festival, can surpass a month of low season wandering aimlessly, relying on alternative accommodations or simple meals.
