Forget the binary between movies and brochures; neither one dictates feasibility; the real question is always about the resource, an off-field parameter to consider for any decision.

Exemples

  • Lonely Planet propose des guides thématiques comme "Where To Go When".
  • National Geographic publie des guides inspirants tels que "Destinations of a lifetime".
  • Moon Travel Guides offre "Wanderlust: A Traveler's Guide to the Globe".
  • Des éditeurs comme Le Routard et Ulysse couvrent des régions spécifiques.

Let's forget the binary between fictional inspiration and tourist guides for choosing a destination; the real question is the pragmatic feasibility of the trip.
Neither movies nor brochures pay for tickets nor manage leave.
The third way that no one asked for is that the true decision drivers are often logistical constraints and available budget.
For example, I can dream of Patagonia after a novel, but the concrete planning and flight prices from Brussels Airlines will decide if the adventure is possible or not.
Guides become useful only if the material conditions are already met.

Honestly, seeing this reminder that neither movies nor brochures pay for tickets is refreshing. We agree that pragmatic feasibility is always the real question.

I am allergic to the 'glossy' side of inspiration through fiction, which forgets what happens when you really have to pay and organize.
Honestly, a travel guide is not just a sub-part of inspiration; it can be the primary source that sparks the spark.
I have seen clients who dreamed of fairy-tale weddings but quickly returned to the cost reality and logistics by flipping through a guide for a concrete destination.
You always have to ask what changes concretely tomorrow to prove that the idea is viable, not just beautiful.
A guide can reveal destinations we would never have imagined, offering a practical starting point long before a story gets involved.

Honestly, seeing tourist guides as just a sub-part of inspiration coming from fiction is a marketing argument that is far too glossy.
In real life, especially here in Quebec, many people start by browsing a Ulysse guide and that's where the spark ignites, not after a movie.
A guide provides concrete facts like hotel prices or the best hiking routes, which really changes what people will pay tomorrow.
When I organize an event, I rely on verifiable practical information, not on a vague dream inspired by Netflix, because the real budget and feasibility are king.
