Before convincing oneself, one must look at the risk; saying that local events 'drastically affect' planning seems a bit too categorical. The breaking point is not always where we think, and focusing on one-off events misses the overall picture of cost factors. In Belgium, for example, school holidays have a much more significant and predictable impact on availability and prices than most music festivals. A rock festival will increase prices for three days, but summer holidays empty some destinations and saturate others for entire weeks.
