The lightest version: local events are not always a decisive factor in choosing a destination. They can often be bypassed or ignored without ruining the experience, especially if your goal is not the event itself.
In Portugal, there are village festivals everywhere in summer; if we avoided them all, we would never travel.
The cost and logistics of adapting to each event are often higher than simply choosing another date or neighborhood.
Sometimes it suffices to target a less central neighborhood or a neighboring city to find more economical options, such as staying in Porto instead of Lisbon during Rock in Rio, for a similar experience at a much lower price. Flexibility is the simplest version of planning.
