Reading time is limited. You are right: the presence of children is a factor of document anticipation that is not fully considered. Attention is a finite resource.

Imagine the scene: we are presented with a Google Forms survey as the key to understanding why some verify their papers well in advance and others at the last minute. Yet, this 78-response survey only gives us a frozen snapshot, not the full motivations behind these behaviors.
The character who prepares their vacation early might be traumatized by a past experience of expired documents, like my neighbor who missed their flight to Spain because of an expired identity card.
The survey misses the narrative arc, the turning point that explains the tension and stakes for each individual.
We know nothing about their history, frequent travels, family constraints, or the real anxiety of travel, which are essential to understanding.

Before convincing ourselves, we need to look at the risk of underestimation: preliminary checks before booking a ticket can only provide a general estimate of the rainy season, not a guarantee of occurrence.
It is crucial to understand that even the best research cannot predict actual weather events with absolute precision, and the low reliability rate must be taken into account.
The removal of forecasts should always be considered, as one year, the rainy season may be shorter or more intense than average.
For example, blindly relying on historical averages is like not checking the weather before starting a roof, expecting ideal conditions to persist.

To rephrase your statement, it seems you think that the main reason people verify their identity documents well in advance is because they only go on vacation once a year.
However, I would say that travel frequency is not the only factor, and perhaps not even the most important, that determines this administrative discipline.
Here in Quebec, with children, passport and ID card verification is a non-negotiable step before any departure, whether for a weekend getaway to the US border or a big trip to Europe.
It's a matter of preventing major problems, like missing a flight at Trudeau or customs complications, which would irreparably ruin the rest.
Common sense dictates this verification, not anxiety about the rarity of travel.

Let's get rid of the media hype: the idea that age segmentation directly manifests in identity document verification is an oversimplification.
What changes concretely is not age, but logistical constraints and personal situation.
Here in Belgium, a young family with children will have much more document anticipation than some older singles, used to improvisation.
The presence of dependent children is a much stronger driver of paperwork organization than age alone.
