Stop going in circles. A Google Forms survey does not prove the actual behavior of people regarding their identity documents.
Respondents’ answers are only stated intentions, not concrete facts about when they verify their passports.
In Spain, the cita previa forces anticipation for certain papers, but not for verifying an existing document.
We cannot decide on a travel strategy solely based on what people say they will do; we need to observe what they actually do.

The survey collected data on holiday planning, not on the specific reasons why people check their documents so early.
For that, one would need to ask directly about motivations for verifying identity papers, not on general planning.
Without this information, we cannot decide that one directly informs the other.
For example, a traveler preparing their passport early may be due to an administrative processing delay and not their holiday planning style.

However, it seems to me that this statement draws a somewhat too strict boundary, as if the anxiety of choosing was the only driving force.
People often anticipate document verification out of pure administrative necessity, not just because of the importance of the annual trip.
For example, renewing a passport that is about to expire triggers early verification, even if the destination has not yet been chosen and without particular anxiety about the choice itself.
