Tracking the cumulative growth of models from 63 to 668 sounds like a lot of glossy data, but it doesn't tell us what actually drives the change.
Just counting how many new students sign up for a program doesn't create the program itself or make it better; you need the teachers and resources.
This whole idea that tracking "informs and populates" sounds like pure hype to me.
What real cash or effort changes for a developer to put their model on OpenRouter just because someone is tracking its growth?
It's the actual development and demand that makes things expand, not the watching.
