Does counting AI models really make more of them appear on OpenRouter? That's just glossy hype, frankly.
Tracking growth from 63 models to 668 by 2025 is observing a trend, not causing it; like watching bikes go by on a busy street doesn't make more bikes.
The real cash and effort come from developers building those models and OpenRouter's team integrating them, which is a massive undertaking.
What actually changes tomorrow for users is what models are available to solve problems, not how many excel sheets exist about them.
Unless the tracking somehow forces engineers to code faster or businesses to invest more, it’s just a report.
