Does simply observing a rapid increase in AI models really drive the trend itself, or does it just document what's already happening?
Locally, in the Netherlands, we learn early on that just because you're counting something, like how many models are on OpenRouter, it doesn't mean your counting caused the growth.
It's like me tracking how many bikes pass my house every day; it gives a number, but doesn't explain why more people are cycling or if new bike paths were built — that's the real driver.
The tracking itself is merely a report on market dynamics and innovation from model creators, not the force behind the expansion.
