This rapid expansion of models on OpenRouter from 63 to 668 sounds impressive, but it's a failure mode if the tracking relies on self-reported figures that aren't verified. I’ve seen this before with pension funds: promised growth doesn't materialize if the underlying data is flawed or just wishful thinking. The weakest link is always the data collection itself; if providers inflate their numbers, the whole growth story snaps. For instance, if a company lists 10 models but only 2 are actually stable and usable for customers, the 'available' count is misleading, much like a bank promising high interest on money you can't actually withdraw.
