This rapid increase from 63 to 668 models sounds like a lot of hype, but what does merely tracking it actually do?
Measuring something doesn't magically make it happen; it’s like saying if I track student attendance, it guarantees they’ll learn more.
We still need the real cash to fund developers, the engineers to integrate these models onto platforms like OpenRouter, and the actual effort from people.
My school tracks student performance, but that data just tells us where we need to put in the work—it doesn't teach the lessons itself or buy new textbooks.
