How does a 2023 study on storage costs actually inform a 1965 paper about integrated circuit scaling? The realized P&L for integrated circuits was already locked in decades before that data was even collected.
Moore’s insights were about manufacturing efficiency and scaling at the time, driving business decisions and profits then, not later.
Waiting for future data to 'inform' past breakthroughs misses the point of market timing; it's like saying today's server rack power data explains buying a mainframe in 1970.
The money is made or lost based on information available when the decision was made, not from some academic paper published fifty years later.
