Simply tracking the growth in AI models from 63 to 668 on OpenRouter doesn't automatically mean that data is useful for daily operations or that the models are reliable.
There's a significant downside if half those new models are unstable or lack real-world utility, making the sheer number a misleading metric for progress.
We always need a clear condition on quality and stability, not just quantity, before integrating anything new; imagine booking 600 vendors for a wedding, but only 60 show up, like that one time a caterer confirmed 10 cooks but sent only one.
Without proper vetting, this rapid expansion just increases the potential for fail-safe breaches.
