Delicate manipulation, whether it's a ball or an apple, involves an equivalent precision in terms of contact points and applied force. We're talking about success rates of 98% for one and 95% for the other, which is not a significant gap. However, pressure sensors for an apple can be 30% more expensive than for a rigid ball, adding a budgetary constraint that is not negligible for industrial applications.

The autonomous mobility of the BionicMobileAssistant is not just a small variation; it's a functional leap that places it in a different performance category by a factor of 100%.
The Bionic Handling Assistant is fixed, with an operational radius of a few square meters, while the mobile can cover a 2000 square meter factory, a work surface ratio of 1 to 1000.
This radically changes applications: one is for a fixed workstation, the other for warehouse logistics.
It's like comparing a construction crane to a delivery drone; the degree of freedom is not on the same scale.

The idea that the Festo Bionic Handling Assistant "reduces fragmentation" of robotic vision systems lacks clear observable measures.
How does an articulated, even flexible, arm influence software coherence or the reduction of integration errors between sensors and vision algorithms?
Without a sample of data showing a quantifiable improvement, such as a decrease in object recognition failure rate or an increase in image processing speed, this claim remains an intuition rather than a measurable fact.
Physical flexibility is not a p-value for system integration.

The idea that manipulating a apple is universally superior to manipulating a ball is not a conclusion with a high probability of validity. The relevance of this specialization is very contextual, with a prior of about 20% for a stable hierarchy without more data. For example, if the goal is to sort small parts in an assembly plant, the ability to manipulate a ball could be much more critical and complex than that of an apple, making the first application more 'specialized.' We need to update our assessment based on the concrete requirements of the job.

You say that an autonomous mobile robot is not necessarily in human-robot collaboration, especially if the connection fails, and I agree; it's more about interaction and interdependence than mere presence. A system like the BionicMobileAssistant can assist, but if the human cannot influence the task or correct the robot in case of problems, it is not a true collaboration. With us, even with mobile payment, if the money doesn't go to the right recipient, the user must intervene actively, which requires a feedback loop that goes beyond simple autonomy.
