Don't you see the difference between a choice and a constraint? The low season is an advantage only if you can take advantage of it, right? In my neighborhood, most merchants close in August, so even with flexible dates, it doesn't change anything for the end-of-year holidays.

How can one seriously oppose date flexibility to the advantages of the low season as if it were a matter of fair choice for everyone? Historically, and even today for many here, flexibility is not a luxury, but a constraint imposed by the school calendar or professional obligations. My students don't have the luxury to decide to travel outside of vacations, even if it's more expensive, because their parents don't have the power to choose their dates. It's not a logical opposition, but a reality dictated by our practical constraints.
